Sr. Aquinata Boeckmann, OSB is a member of the Tutzing Benedictines in Germany, presently living and working in Rome. She is a member of the formation team for her community and teaches Monastic Studies at Sant’
Anselmo. Sr. Aquinata is an internationally known scholar, best known for her work on the Rule of St. Benedict. Her comentary on the Rule is being translated into English.

Sr. Judith Ann Heble, OSB, Prioress of Sacred Heart Monastery in Lisle, arranged for Sr. Aquinata’s workshop which was attended by over 120 Benedictine men and women, coming from some 22 houses, nine US States as
well as South Africa and England.

The five-days of morning and afternoon sessions with Sr. Aquinata centered on Monastic Profession in the Rule of St. Benedict. Some topics addressed included: What is means to be a community member; Daily
living in the monastery; Hospitality; Common Ownership; The Common Table; Mutual Obedience and Service; and Running Together.
The workshop, held at Benedictine University, was the first of four to be delivered in the US this summer. The other workshop sites are: Mount St. Scholastica Monastery, Atchison, KS; St. Walburg Monastery,
Covington, KY; and Benet Hill Monastery, Colorado Spring, CO.
