Restoration of the Ave Maria shrine is complete!
On the shores of the ‘slough’ and near Ondrak Hall, the outdoor shrine has had a ‘face-lift’ that is now complete. Flowers and shrubs have been planted. Cobblestone walks have been constructed.

The shrine has been completed. Removal and replacement of damaged structural elements is now done along with repainting. With the rubble removed and grass planted, the area should provide a pleasant
atmosphere for prayer.

The Jurica Prairie planted
Dr. Larry Kamin, with the help of students, faculty, staff, and monks, weeded and planted the newly designed and relocated mesophytic prairie dedicated to the Juricas. The original site, now crossed by a
roadway, had to yield to campus construction.
Sized for the pleasing-to-the-eye appearance of the index card, the prairie plot is dissected into quardrants by pathways. A diagonal walkway leads to the ‘learning circle’. A bench on the main pathway
allows one to view the prairie and also provides a view to the “slough”.
Over 500 prairie plants have been planted. The wet weather should help establish the plantings. All plants have been meticulously arranged according to plan and recorded to mak monitoring of growth rates
and other plant demographics possible.

Chapel windows again on Campus...
The St. Benedict Chapel stained glass windows showing the life of St. Benedict, some Benedictine Saints, and Jesus carrying His cross,
were removed for cleaning and repair. Once in the monks’ choir chapel when the monastic community was living on campus, the windows have been reinstalled in the new St. Benedict Chapel on the lower level of the
Krasa Center. All windows (more than those shown in the Chapel here) have been back-lighted and installed in many key areas of the campus (e.g., library).

The Sports Complex
A new sports complex is now under construction on campus. Some recent photos of the project’s status is shown here. To include track, football field and grandstands, baseball field and grandstands (see the
dugouts pictured here), soccer fields, and softball diamond, the facility is due for completion the Fall of 2004.
The complex is situated between Tomecko Road (the back road), Kohbeck Hall, the Krasa Center, and Maple Avenue. A retention pond, now filling, is along Maple.
