Aaron Minix Starts Pre-Postulancy

LISLE, Ill. – St. Procopius Abbey welcomed Aaron Minix October 28, as he began his pre-postulancy studies, announced prior-administrator Guy Jelinek, OSB.

During his two-month pre-postulancy, Aaron will come to the Abbey daily for lessons on Benedictine Spirituality and the history of St. Procopius and the American-Cassinese Congregation. In addition, he will join the monks as they complete their daily tasks for the Abbey. Br. Kevin Coffey, as vocation director, will oversee Aaron’s pre-postulancy, while Prior Guy Jelinek and Father James Flint will be teaching the daily lessons.

Aaron, who previously was a seminarian in the Diocese of Joliet, and taught at St. Mary’s in Mokena, Ill., was first introduced to St. Procopius when he came for a vocation discernment “Come and See” retreat in Summer 2023, at the suggestion of the Rev. James Dvorscak, who was then the pastor at his home parish of St. Dennis in Lockport, Ill.

During this time of discernment, Aaron said he has regularly been praying a devotion to St. Joseph.

Aaron graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in Secondary Education and History.

Following this pre-postulancy period (expected to wrap up at the end of the calendar year), Aaron will move to postulancy, which would last at least three months.

If you see Aaron around at the Abbey, please introduce yourself and welcome him!
