As some of you may know, last week, the Diocese of Joliet made changes to its protocols regarding COVID.
After reviewing those changes, Abbot Austin is making the following adjustments to our St. Procopius Abbey protocols.
Masks are recommended, but not required, in all public areas (including the church and lobby).
We will pass a collection basket on Sunday Masses.
The Sign of Peace will be reinstated on weekday Masses.
In addition, the following procedures remain in place:
Those giving Communion will continue to wear masks.
Those receiving Communion on the tongue should continue the following procedure: on Sundays, please go to the special station near the crucifix; on weekdays, please wait until the rest of the assembly has received Communion. Those receiving Communion on the tongue should be the last in line.
We will continue to have a special section of seating for those who wish to remain socially distanced. If you choose to sit in the socially-distanced seating area, we ask that you continue to wear a mask, except when receiving Communion.
Even though masks are no longer required during Confession, we will continue social-distancing in the Eucharistic Chapel during the sacrament.
