Every year, some of the graduating seniors from Benet Academy are selected to receive awards for going above and beyond in their academic work and in service. This year, as with so many other things, the ceremony had to be modified due to the corona virus pandemic. But undeterred by this, some of the recipients performed a beautiful gesture after receiving their rewards.
Many of the awards are named after deceased monks who had worked at Benet Academy. In turn, those who received these rewards decided to honor these monks by visiting their graves, placing flowers on them, and praying. Before doing this, they stopped by the abbey and in the parking lot Abbot Austin thanked them for their gesture and gave them a blessing (see photo). May God bless them for their beautiful gesture and always guide them as they leave Benet and undertake the next stage in their lives.
